Transfer of Deed Law Pennsylvania
To transfer your property to a new owner you must file the necessary deeds and paperwork. This can be done for you by an attorney or an escrow agent.
The deed is a legal instrument which describes the property, identifies the two parties involved, and allows for the ownership to be transferred. Upon signing and filing the deed and other accompanying paperwork the transfer of the property has begun.
There are various types of deeds, but the most common one for the transfer of property is the “warranty” deed. This type of transfers the property and additionally warrants that the deed holder has legal claim to the property. A “quitclaim” deed is used to transfer the property, but does not make any claim about ownership.
